Abuja Building Collapse: FEMA Gives Updates

The FCT- Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has revealed that there has been no fatal casualties recorded so far from the collapsed four storey hotel building under construction in Dape District, Abuja on Monday.

The Director General FEMA, Dr. Abbas Idriss revealed this to Newsmen at the scene of the building Collapse, while giving an update, Tuesday.

The Director General noted that no deaths have been recorded and assured that hopefully non will be recorded.

His words : “we have not recorded any death and hopefully we will not record any”.

Dr. Idriss disclosed that out of the nine already rescued survivors from the rubble, six have been treated and discharged, while three are still recieving treatment in the hospital but are responding to treatment.

The DG appreciated  all stakeholders especially FCDA for its timely intervention and effort at galvanising support from development partners, who brought in heavy duty equipments to assist in the search and rescue process.

Dr. Idriss assured of his team’s commitment to get to ground zero, until search and rescue is completed.

Recall that on the evening of Monday July 3rd, 2023, a four storey hotel building under construction reportedly collapsed trapping over 20 persons in Dape District of the Federal Capital City (FCC).
