The Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS), has won the maiden edition of the Government Technology (Gov. Tech) award for the best federal Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA).
The award, which was presented to AGIS in Abuja, also attracted a “Trailblazer” award to the Acting Director of AGIS, Isiaku Ndatsu Alfa Kure.
Abuja Digest reports that the nominations and eventual awards were coordinated by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPRS) in the Presidency.
While presenting the awards, the Director-General of BPRS, Dr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, represented by Head of ICT, BPRS, Olusegun Oguntuyi, said that after a thorough assessment of MDAs in Nigeria, AGIS emerged top.
“This award is deserving. A thorough assessment was carried out across the whole MDAs in Nigeria and AGIS happened to be the one that emerged best among them”, Arabi stated.
Responding, the Acting Director of AGIS, Isiaku Ndatsu Alfa Kure said: “This award is well deserved because several other states have borrowed a leaf from us. We are very happy to be the trailblazers in that direction. It will spur us to do more”.
