AMAC CHAIRMAN DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO STAFF WELFARE

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has charged workers of the council to uphold professionalism, accountability, and diligence in service delivery, emphasizing that such virtues are pivotal to the council’s progress.

He made the call while speaking during an interactive session with officials of the FCT Area Council Service Commission on Tuesday, 12th August, 2025, in his office in Area 10,Garki, Abuja,

Maikalangu expressed displeasure over the unauthorized disclosure of official information, warning that such breaches contravene the oath of office and will attract sanctions, including redeployment or dismissal.

He said: “Transparency and discipline are non-negotiable. AMAC exists to serve the people, and any act undermining this mandate will not be condoned.”

Reprimanding negligence, the Chairman applauded dedicated staff for their role in advancing rural infrastructure, healthcare, and community empowerment initiatives.

The AMAC boss reiterated his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, grassroots development, and inclusive governance, urging unity to achieve AMAC’s objectives.

Maikalangu closed with a rallying cry: “Let us work as a team -with integrity, passion, and accountability -to deliver the dividends of democracy to every doorstep in AMAC.”

Administrative Secretary, FCT Area Councils Service Commission, Mrs. Eunice Yakuza, explained that the visit was aimed at addressing staff concerns and enhancing service delivery.

She said: “We are here to listen, resolve, and ensure AMAC workers thrive in their duties,” she affirmed.

Chairman, NULGE, Comrade Hassan Haruna hailed Maikalangu as “the best leader AMAC has ever had,” citing his responsiveness to staff welfare, prompt payment of hazard allowances, and open-door policy to grievances.

Similarly, the Council’s Director of Administration, Hajara Abdullahi Umar, praised the chairman for promoting gender inclusivity, noting that six women currently head departments.

“This administration walks the talk on balance and opportunity,” she remarked, urging staff to leverage the engagement for clarity and growth.
