AMAC To Spend ₦25Bn In 2025

Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has proposed to spend ₦25,651,311,142 in the 2025 fiscal year.
This is as the Chairman, Tuesday, presented the 2025 budget estimates of Twenty-Five Billion, Six Hundred Fifty-One Million, Three Hundred and Eleven Thousand, One Hundred and Forty-Two Naira on the floor of the Legislative Council in Area 10, Garki I District, Abuja.
Tagged “budget for sustainable development”, Maikalangu stated that it would consolidate and accelerate grassroots development, as well as fulfil more campaign promises made to the people.
According to him, the estimates, which represents 10 percent nominal increment from 2024 budget, is broken down into ₦11,857,527,025.00 for recurrent expenditure, and ₦13,793,784,117.00 for capital expenditure.
He said that while the recurrent expenditure is further apportioned into ₦4,656,527,025.00 for personnel cost and ₦7,201,000,000.00 for overhead cost, the capital expenditure further estimates ₦1,213,994,717.00 for ongoing projects, ₦11,439,789,400.00 for new projects and ₦1,140,000,000.00 for debt servicing.
The increment, he explained was mainly due to provision for the payment of minimum wage to the Council workforce.
Maikalangu said that the budget would focus on important areas including quality primary educational services, healthcare delivery, aggressive grassroots development, as well as empowerment programmes and completion of ongoing peojects.
The Chairman disclosed that provision has been made in the budget for the procurement of 45 vehicles for security agencies in AMAC.
