The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Mr. Felix Obuah has expressed dismay over the poor maintenance of streetlights in the Federal Capital City (FCC), Abuja.

The Coordinator expressed this concern during a meeting with the contractors on streetlight maintenance and security, Tuesday, in Abuja.

Obuah described the situation as unimpressive; saying that the darkness experienced in the City due to poor maintenance requires urgent attention.

According to him, the situation does not befit the FCT as a Capital City, and urged the Contractors to scale up their services to reverse the trend.

The Coordinator, however, promised that the Administration would ensure that necessary platforms are provided to guarantee efficiency.

Speaking during the meeting, the Director, Facility Management and Maintenance, Mr. Felix Nwankwo, flayed some of the contractors for not living up to expectation.

He also accused the Abuja Electricity Disbution Company (AEDC) of being uncooperative in the aspect of electricity supply, as some transformers can stay for days without electricity.

He, moreover, urged the contractors to improve on their services so as to change the narrative.

The contractors on their part listed their challenges which includes; poor electricity supply, vandalism and delayed payment just as they appealed to the Coordinator to keep his promise by giving them optimal support that would help them serve FCT better.
