The Area Councils Services Secretariat (ACSS) and the Social Development Secretariat will jointly organize the forthcoming Aso Festival for Arts and Culture in the Federal Capital Territory.
This agreement was reached when the Secretary, ACSS, Bitrus Lawrence Garki, played host to the Director, Department of Arts and Culture, SDS, Kayode Aiyegbusi in his office.
The Director, Department of Planning Research and Statistics, ACSS, Sarah David Areo, who received his counterpart on behalf of Secretary, ACSS, said that culture is life and must be held in high esteem by all.
The Secretary expressed his concern over the non promotion of the rich cultures and the heritage of the nation among families; stressing that majority of parents in the society today no longer speak their dialects to their children.
According to the Secretary, this development is worrisome as most kids have no knowledge of where they come from as well as their cultural practices.
The Secretary emphasized the need for the Aso Festival for Arts and Culture because it would awaken the rich cultural values.
The Secretary promised that the ACSS will synergize with the Area Councils on behalf of SDS to ensure its success of festival.
Speaking earlier, the Director department of Arts and Culture, SDS Kayode Aiyegbusi, appreciated the warm reception and hinted that the Aso Festival for Arts and Culture promises to be packed full with beautiful events which will include cultural dance displays, dramas, fashion displays and presentation of prizes.
He said the event will include a command performance which will climax with a closing ceremony.
