As part of its annual end-of-year Christmas Carol programme, the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board visited the Wasa Community Internally Displaced Persons camp, bringing relief and cheer to residents of the camp on December 15, 2025.

Led by the Director of the Board, Gloria Dandam, the team arrived with food items and clothing, which were shared among the displaced persons. The visit formed part of the Board’s yearly tradition of using offerings collected during Monday morning prayer meetings to support vulnerable groups within the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during the visit, Dandam said the Board remained committed to supporting those in need, especially during the festive season. She thanked the FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, for their consistent support and concern for the welfare of residents across the territory.

She also appealed to relevant authorities to pay closer attention to the challenges facing the Wasa IDP community and stressed that unity and compassion should guide the actions of individuals and institutions, particularly at Christmas.

The donations were received by the Camp Chairman, Geophrey Bitrus, who welcomed the Director and her team on behalf of the residents. He expressed gratitude for the visit and described the gesture as timely and deeply meaningful to the people in the camp.

Bitrus explained that the camp is home to seven thousand four hundred and sixty-seven (7,467) individuals, many of whom are widows and orphaned children. He appealed for assistance in providing boreholes for clean water, access to healthcare services, and schools to ensure that children in the camp can return to education.

The visit ended with the Board proceeding to its annual Christmas Carol, where prayers were offered for the Federal Capital Territory Administration, the FCT, and the country at large.
