Director Information FCT Challenges Information Officers to build capacity

Information Officers in the services of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have been enjoined to build capacity so as to improve on the delivery of their responsibilities and the quality of information disseminates to the public.
The Director, Information and Communication Department, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Muhammad Hazat Sule, made this call at a send-forth in honour of Mr. Ifeanyi Ughamadu, a Deputy Director of Information and Head of Public Relations in the Transportation Secretariat, who is retiring from service of the FCTA, after attending the mandatory age of 60 years.
Sule, challenged the Information Officers to build capacity and improve on the reportage of FCTA activities towards educating the public on the laudable infrastructural transformation that is on-going in the FCT.
He, said the department of Information and Communication, FCTA organized the send-forth to honour the Deputy Director for his contributions to the Department and by extension the development of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Director stressed that, an incompetency Officer, brings many negative implications, to the service such as: low level of production, little or no progress in service delivery, and misinformation in the system, which results in general inefficiency.
Sule, who called on all the Information Officers posted to the various Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) in the FCT, must humble themselves and tap from the vast experience of their senior colleagues.
He emphasized that togetherness and unity in service delivery is one of the secrets of success.
The Director also enjoined the Information Officers to work in harmony and collaborate as one family to ensure the success of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ in the FCT as being implemented by the Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Sule, commended Mr. Ughamadu, for his service to the Department and the entire FCT Administration.
He, therefore, wish the retiring Officer well in his feature endevours.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Head of Administration of the department, Ms Aina Gbemisola, commended the efforts by Mr. Ughamadu, to ensure that the then Information Division was transformed into a Department of Information and Communication.
She urged the younger officers to emulate the commitment and hard work of Mr. Ughamadu as they continue to discharge their duties.
Responding, the retiring officer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ughamadu, maintained that humility and learning in Civil Service is the key to a successful career; adding that no staff possesses the monopoly of ideas, thus, humility and learning should be made a priority for the younger staff, if they must succeed.
The out-going Head of Public Relations, Transportation Secretariat, also charged Information Officers to work diligently and embrace hard work, which he described as the secret of every potential and successful Civil Servant.
He appreciated the management of the department and described the commitment, determination and pragmatic leadership of the Director of the Information and Communication Department, Muhammad Hazat Sule, as exceptional.
Ughamadu, said that Sule, has brought about lots of innovations to the department which has translated into a success story being witnessed in the service delivery by the department.
