FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called on the residents of the Federal Capital Territory not participate in the nationwide protest planned for first of August.

Wike said this while briefing journalists after end of a security meeting held in in his office, on Thursday.

His words: “To those who want to protest on the 1st of August, FCT is not available to any form of protests. We will not allow it”.

According to him, “We know that it is a very difficult period for the citizens, but we urge Nigerians to be patient. We have seen a lot of challenges in the FCT, but we will not have anyone to take us back and disturb the peace”.

The Minister, who added that those rights to protest must be exercised within the ambience of the law, and therefore, called on Nigerians to work collectively to salvage the country from challenges.

Earlier, Wike, promising that things would soon be over, had appealed to residents at the Saburi community to shun the protest, but exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu and support him in his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

Wike had gone to Saburi to inspect an access road project in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) which was awarded few months ago.

The Minister while pledging to build a Police Station in the community, told AMAC Chairman, on his part, to locate a Primary healthcare Centre in the community.
