ERC HOLDS 2025 SCHOOL FOR THE GIFTED EXAMS, HARPS ON HIGHEST STANDARDS

To ensure the Centre delivers on its various mandates, the Director, FCT Education Resource Centre, Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, has stressed the need to improve and maintain the highest standard in all conduct of examinations in the Territory.

She disclosed this during the 2025 School for the Gifted Examination recently conducted by the examination body.

Dr. Abdulrahim explained that early preparation and timely planning are necessary for effective and efficient implementation of hitch-free examinations. Represented by Mr. Friday Bere, Director, Community Services and Entrepreneurship Division in the Education Resource Centre, she emphasized that the conduct of examinations follow laid-down processes and procedures that guarantee success. She pointed out that these include proper planning, early release of timetable, adequate logistics and resources, strict confidentiality and security of question papers. In addition, orientation for both Students and Invigilators, effective supervision, and emergency preparedness to handle any unforeseen situations.

According to her, strict adherence to these standards are vital as it safeguards the integrity and credibility of the education system, ensures fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates. This builds trust and acceptance of certificates both locally and internationally, instills discipline and accountability in learners as well as contributing to national development by producing competent graduates.

The Director emphasized that the best of the best will be admitted without compromising the standard, stressing that merit and excellence will continue to define the process.

On the entrance examination for the School for the Gifted, she noted that the conduct was hitch-free, as officers were available to warmly receive candidates, properly arrange them, and commence the examination seamlessly, with no challenges encountered.

Dr. Abdulrahim called on parents and stakeholders to continue to have confidence in the education system in the FCT, assuring that the Honourable Minister of the FCT has placed education on the front burner of his developmental agenda.

She also appreciated the Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, for his unwavering commitment towards quality, accessible, and affordable education in the FCT, which is already yielding visible results.

Some of the Candidates interviewed expressed optimism that they will be admitted, as the questions were fair, while the Parents commended the FCT-ERC for their orderliness in the conduct of examinations in the Territory, describing the Centre as transparent, credible, and committed to upholding high standards.

Abuja Digest the examination body is expected to admit 400 students out of the over 600 candidates who registered for this year’s examination.
