The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has deployed multiple security agencies at the National Youth Service Corps orientation camp to ensure the security of lives and properties of Corps members in recognition of the scheme’s role as an active partner in the development of the Federal Capital Territory.
The Minister of State, FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud pledged at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 batch C orientation course on Friday, 21st November, 2025, at the NYSC FCT permanent orientation camp, Kubwa, Abuja.
Representing the Minister, the Mandate Secretary, Youth and Sport Development Secretariat, as well as the chairman FCT governing board of NYSC, Alhaji Lawan Kolo Geidam, said the deployment policy of the NYSC, which ensures that young Nigerians are posted to states other than their own, is expected to engender unity and promote nation-building.
” Here in FCT, our teeming youths, women, and the indigent are in dire need of support which will help them develop their various talents for productive creativity and hope that Corp members will provide the necessary intervention,” he said.
He added that the orientation course programs have been carefully designed to prepare participants, fresh from the theoretical environment of the school, for the realities of self and national development, and also, over five decades of implementation, have proven that the orientation course is a veritable transformation agent for nation-building and leadership.
Alhaji Geidam urged the Corp members to apply diligence to all camp activities and submit themselves to the regimented nature and discipline here.
Speaking, the FCT NYSC coordinator, Samson Ateli, described the NYSC as not only a platform for the realization of the lofty ideas of the scheme but the continuation of a vision that believes in the resilience and potential of the Nigerian graduate youths towards nation building.
Mr Ateli expressed his unreserved appreciation to the FCT administration for the continuous support accorded to the NYSC FCT by providing the enabling environment required to host the orientation course and appealed for the commencement of the second phase of the reconstruction and renovation of camp facilities, as several areas are in dire need of repairs in the orientation camp.
