FCT COLLEGE OF EDUCATION PROVOST WINS BEST PROVOST NORTH CENTRAL AWARD

FCT COE recieves award

It was a momentous occasion as the Provost, FCT College of Education, Zuba, Dr. Sule Mundi, FCSN, FSTAN, was conferred with the “Best Provost (Infrastructure), North Central” award during the Merit Award/28th Anniversary Celebration of the Committee of Public Relations and Information Officers of Colleges of Education, Nigeria (COPRECOEN).

The colourful event, held on September 1, 2025, at the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Headquarters, Abuja, attracted top dignitaries from the education sector.

Among those present were the Executive Secretary of NCCE, Prof. Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle; the representative of the Executive Secretary of TETFund; the Chairman, Committee of Provosts of Federal Colleges of Education, Dr. Ali Adamu; and the National President of COEASU, Dr. Smart Olugbeko.

Also in attendance was the Chief Executive Officer of the Management Academy, Abuja, Dr. Peter Oyeneye, who delivered the keynote lecture as the guest speaker. The event was further graced by 11 Provosts from various colleges across the country.

Representatives of the FCT College of Education, Zuba-Abuja, were equally present. They included the Deputy Provost, Dr. Gbemisola Olotu; Acting Registrar, Hajiya Zainab Itakure; Acting Bursar, Mr. Joseph Iyako; Director of Works, Alhaji Abdulkadir Aliyu; Director of Public Relations, Hajiya Ramatu Jijitar; and the National President-elect of COEASU, Dr. Ahmed Bazza Lawan.

Since assuming office as Provost, Dr. Mundi has pursued an ambitious agenda of infrastructural renewal, academic excellence, and institutional transformation at the FCT College of Education, Zuba.

Key achievements under his administration include the construction of  a three-kilometre perimeter fence, and a new security post to strengthen campus safety; renovation of the Administrative Block, School of Sciences, School of Languages, and all structures at the mini campus; and completion of a 2.2 km access road within the college.

He also oversaw the completion of the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) building, installation of modern laboratory equipment across several schools, and renovation of classrooms to facilitate the Special Education programme.

In the area of digital transformation, his administration established a 600-capacity Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre at the college library, while introducing a hybrid solar power system at key facilities and installing 300 solar-powered streetlights across the campus.

To improve student welfare, Dr. Mundi spearheaded the renovation of a female hostel earlier destroyed by fire, the ongoing construction of a 1,600-bed capacity hostel, and external works at the Administrative Block.

In addition, a 650-capacity lecture auditorium is under construction, while the college library complex has been upgraded to meet modern learning and research needs.

These interventions, according to COPRECOEN, have repositioned the FCT College of Education, Zuba, as a model institution in the North Central region, hence the award to Dr. Mundi for outstanding leadership in infrastructural development.
