To ensure continued educational support for indigent communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the FCT Administration has expressed its commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind, in line with the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This commitment was made by the Mandate Secretary of the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, during a recent presentation of books at the Abuja Children’s Home, Karu. She stated that the FCT Administration is concerned about vulnerable groups in society.

Benjamins-Laniyi recalled that in 2024, a STEAM Camp was organized in Abuja—not for children of the elite, but for vulnerable children to experience and benefit from world-class knowledge.

The Mandate Secretary explained that this was made possible by Professor Hauwa Ibrahim, who brought five students from universities in America and Italy. They paid their own way to Nigeria simply to give back by teaching indigent children subjects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

In her words: “Today, all that the children did has been documented and published in a book. This book is being presented to the Abuja Children’s Home to encourage and inspire the children here that education is important and that, through it, they can achieve their dreams.”

The wife of the Sa’ Karuyi of Karu, Mrs. Patricia Narai, said the STEAM Camp was a blessing to the community. She noted that it had truly inspired the children and expressed hope that some of them would gain admission into prestigious institutions such as Harvard University in the future.

The presentation of books was also carried out in the Kagini Community, where the team was warmly received by the Hakimi of Kagini, Alhaji Ayuba Barau.

The disability community in Karimajiji also benefited from the donation of books. Meanwhile, an orphanage in Gwako, Gwagwalada Area Council, has been scheduled to receive its donation on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The Mandate Secretary called on residents to continue supporting the Administration by taking advantage of the schools and educational resources available in the Federal Capital Territory. She added that the children were taught and encouraged to embrace subjects that have hitherto been considered difficult.
