FCT MINISTER CALLS FOR UNITY
…AS HE RECEIVES AREA COUNCCHAIRMEN- ELECT

In his determination to foster inclusive governance in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has unveiled plans for a “rainbow coalition” with newly elected Area Council chairmen.
He stated that the need to deliver transformative development to the nation’s capital in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda transcended party lines.
The Minister made this declaration on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, while receiving the chairmen-elect of FCT Area Councils in his office.
Wike, renowned for his pragmatic leadership, extended warm congratulations to the chairmen and urged them to prioritize governance and collaboration.
“By God’s grace, your hard work has borne fruit. This is a sacred mandate to serve the people,” he remarked, emphasizing that the FCT’s progress is hinged on unity.
“Party banners fade; development does not. We’ve achieved milestones by working together, and this coalition will deepen that legacy,” he declared.
The Minister revealed that candidates who aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision during the local government polls enjoyed the administration’s support, adding: “Even opposition leaders who share our commitment to Abuja’s growth will join this rainbow alliance.”
The Minister also assured the chairmen-elect of robust collaboration but issued a stern reminder: “President Tinubu’s backing comes with a duty—govern with integrity, urgency, and the people at heart.”
This is as he also praised the outgoing council leaders for their service, wishing them well in future pursuits.
Outgoing Chairman,of Kuje Area Council and FCT ALGON Chairman, Hon. Danladi Chiya, who spoke on behalf of the six Chairmen, expressed gratitude to h the Minister and President Bola Tinubu for their victories.
Chiya pledged the continued supoort of the people of FCT to the FCT Administration and the Federal Government.
