The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has received resounding praise for its meticulous handling of the 2025 pilgrimage screening exercise, setting a gold standard for professionalism and spiritual readiness.

This commendation was made in Abuja during the first phase of administrative and medical screenings for this year’s pilgrimage on Thursday, 26th February, 2026 by Head of Special Duties at the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Olatunji Adetoye,

“The FCT Board has not only met but exceeded expectations,” Adetoye declared, grading the exercise at an impressive 95 per cent.

“Their adherence to guidelines and implementation of our joint recommendations reflect a partnership built on trust and excellence.”

Adetoye emphasized the transformative power of the journey, urging pilgrims to embrace their role as Nigeria’s ambassadors.

“Walking the path of Jesus ignites divine renewal -genuine repentance, unshakable faith without the need for external scrutiny,” he remarked, applauding the caliber of candidates presented.

Director of the FCT Board, Gloria Dandam, who unveiled the multi-layered screening process, emphasized the need to prioritize pilgrims’ safety and spiritual preparedness.

“Not all who screen will qualify,” she clarified, detailing stages from medical checks (blood pressure, glucose levels) to documentation reviews. “We’ve fortified our procedures to ensure only the fit and faithful embark,” She stated.

On security, Dandam dispelled concerns: “Israel’s intelligence is unmatched. Pilgrims are monitored from entry -unless one harbors ill intent.” Each travel group will include pastors and security personnel, with smaller buses enabling close oversight.

The director disclosed that over 200 pilgrims were screened on the first day, with more expected, adding that the final phase would spotlight those deemed physically, spiritually, and administratively ready for the holy voyage, she stressed.
