FCT Department of Security Services has said it will collaborate with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Chapel to sustain the security architecture of the Nation’s Capital for improved security of lives and property of residents.
Director of Security Services Department, FCTA, Adamu Buba Gwary, revealed this during a courtesy visit by the executives of the NUJ FCTA Chapel, to the Department, Tuesday.
Gwary said the visit by the executives was important as Information Officers are integral to the image-making of the Administration.
The Director, who was represented by the Director of Admin and Finance, Ebere Molokwu, assured the team of the department’s unflinching support in carrying out its activities, especially as it relates to sensitization of FCT residents.
According to him, the Department is willing to support the Union, particularly when they are embarking on any sensitization within and around the Federal Capital City.
He explained that the department is ready to collaborate with the NUJ FCTA Chapel in all its activities; adding that the value the Union brings to the table cannot be overemphasized.
His words: “I want to assure you that we are always here to support you whenever you need our help, in fact you can write to us whenever you need to go out for sensitization.”
Speaking earlier, the Chairman NUJ, FCTA Chapel, Ngozi Ufomba, appreciated the Department for giving audience to the team and commended them for the efforts made in securing the nation’s Capital.
The Chairman recalled the security challenges experienced by residents at the start of the year, which led to fear, and panic; adding that there have been remarkable improvements as relative peace has been restored to the Territory.
Ufomba explained that security is everybody’s business and as part of the Union’s contribution to corroborate the efforts of the Security Services Department, it had gone around the City on a sensitization campaign using fliers and jingles to provide security tips for residents.
She, therefore, sought the support of the Department as the Union is set to train its Information Officers across Secretariats, Department, and Agencies (SDAs), which she said would help them become more effective and efficient in the discharge of their duties.
Abuja Digest reports that the NUJ FCTA Chapel is the Umbrella body for all the Information Officers across the Secretaries Departments and Agencies saddled with the responsibility of projecting the image of the FCT Administration.
