FCTA Assures Corps Members Of Maximum Safety, Welfare

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will work towards the safety and welfare of all the Corps members undertaking their primary assignment in Abuja.

Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, gave this assurance, while declaring open the orientation exercise of the 2023 Batch C, Stream 1 corps members
mobilized to the Federal Capital Territory.

According to her, the FCT Administration has unwavering faith in the NYSC scheme, and therefore, firmly committed to
providing the needed enabling environment to keep the scheme viable.

Mahmoud further assured that the Administration will do everything possible to ensure the safety and welfare
of the corps members.

Her words: “I want to assure you that security of lives and property of all citizens in the FCT,
especially corps members remain our topmost priority”.

The Minister of State, who was represented at the event by the Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat (SDS), Ibrahim Bello Aminu, urged the corps members to abide strictly to the rules
and regulations of the camp, and adhere to the oath of allegiance in the service of the country.

She enjoined the Corps members to use the opportunity to build bridges of understanding, togetherness, empower communities and leave a lasting legacy of positive change.

In her welcome address, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, expressed profound
appreciation to the FCT Minister and the FCT Minister of State, Barr. Nysom Wike and Dr. Mariya
Mahmoud respectively for the support and encouragement enjoyed by the NYSC FCT towards the
realization of the lofty ideals of the scheme in the FCT.

Shokpeka added that a total number of 4,487 corps members have been duly registered for the
orientation exercise comprising of 2,064 males and 2,423 females.

“They have successfully
adapted to the regimented nature of the orientation camp with enviable comportment”, the Coordinator said.
