FCTA Pledges Support For Health Education Initiatives

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will support all health education initiatives by Non-Governmental Organizations aimed at improving the living standards of FCT children.
The Director of Information and Communication, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Muhammad Hazat Sule, gave this assurance while receiving the Executive Director of the Center for School Health Education and Environmental Hygiene (CSHEEH), Dr. Folashade Momoh, who paid him an advocacy visit in his office, No. 1 Kapital Road, FCTA Secretariat, Abuja, Tuesday.
The Director expressed the commitment of the Administration to supporting any initiative that would improve the lots of the children in the Territory.
According to him, health education initiatives across Abuja’s schools will definitely improve the health of pupils and students, by extension the entire residents.
Sule lauded the uncommon efforts and sacrifice of Momoh and her NGO, CSHEEH, for their impactful work in promoting health education and providing essential knowledge and resources to schools.
His words: “This your efforts will not only empower our youth to building a stronger future, but also the environment as the duo go together to enhance the living standards of the populace.”
The Director commended Momoh’s dedication and long-standing humanitarian service to the community as a retired Director in the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, who had worked at various FCT District Hospitals.
He emphasized that CSHEEH’s efforts align perfectly with the mission of the Abuja Digest Newspaper, which is “Report Abuja Better”.
Sule assured her that the Department’s media arm will continue to provide support as a development partner, because anything positive coming to Abuja is our business.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Folashade Momoh, expressed her gratitude for the support provided by Abuja Digest over the years; acknowledging the media’s critical role in amplifying CSHEEH’s initiatives.
She explained that since 2015, CSHEEH has championed health and environmental education in schools and vulnerable communities through advocacy campaigns, workshops, and the distribution of personal care items like cleaning supplies, toothbrushes, and sanitation materials.
She recalled that CSHEEH recently renovated sanitation facilities and installed handwashing stations at LEA Primary School, Zone B, Lugbe, Abuja, in commemoration
of Global Handwashing Day 2024.
Momoh, who was a former Director of the FCT Public Health Department, said these efforts were part of CSHEEH’s ongoing mission to support children, orphans, and displaced persons with essential hygiene resources.
The Executive Director, therefore, expressed CSHEEH’s commitment to expanding these impactful programmes and hopes to continue working with the FCT Administration to improve the health and future of young people across the Federal Capital Territory.
