The slip road connecting Good luck Jonathan Expressway with the Ring Road II at Galadimawa Roundabout has been re-opened for vehicular movement.

The road was Barricaded on June 25th 2024 to mitigate the impact of flooding during the rainy season.

Speaking at the reopening of the road , the Acting Director-General of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, said that the slip road was been re-opened following the cessation of the rainy season.

Mohammed stated that the Department was consistent with barricading the slip road to save lives and property.

His words: “Every July we close this road to control flooding.
To the glory of God, no life was lost since 2020, because we made it a tradition to block the road during the rainy season”.

He, thus, announced the commencement of the dry season campaign.

Mohammed appealed to residents to switch off electrical appliances when not in use, not to refill hot machinery or store fuel in the home or car.

The Director-General cautioned against indiscriminate bush burning; adding that domestic gas cylinders must be kept outside the kitchen.

Also speaking, the Director Engineering Services, Federal Capital Development Authority,(FCDA) Mr Richard Dauda, explained that the slip road was part of old infrastructure in the area.

Represented by Mr. Mattais Gunar, Dauda stated that the new road infrastructure includes 3 more bridges to replace the existing temporary culvert which is contributing to flooding of the road.
