FCTA To Priotize Demand Driven Interventions For Youth

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will give priority attention to demand driven interventions for youth in the Federal Capital Territory.

It is aimed to be an innovative approach to providing solutions to the multifaceted challenges faced by youth in the Territory.

The Mandate Secretary, FCT Youth Development Secretariat, Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, stated this in an exclusive interview with Abuja Digest Newspaper, in his office, Cyprian Ekwensi Arts and Culture Complex, Area 10, Garki I District, Abuja.

The Secretary said that the Youth Development Secretariat will do everything possible to bring to the fore all problems hindering the progress of the youth in the Territory.

His words: “The Secretariat will partner with relevant Ministries and Agencies of government, such as, Abuja Enterprises Agency ( AEA), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, ( NASENI), just to mention a few, in the training of youth on entrepreneurship and innovations.”

“My recent visits to four Area Councils in the FCT where the Secretariat convened a Participatory Youth Town Hall meetings was to engage with youth representatives in Kuje, Geagwalada, Kwali and Bwari, so as to feel their pulse, harvests their ideas and note their challengesto the Secretariat come out with a robust roadmap and strategic solutions,” Ango added.

He assured that the remaining Area Councils will soon be visited to give them a sense of honour and belonging.

Ango disclosed that the Secretariat intends to digitalize all training that will expose selected youth across the six Area Councils in the Territory.

According to him, “this we intend to achieve by leveraging on the cutting edge Information and Communication Technology to add immense value to their talent, thereby, making them self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully towards reduction of unemployment across board.”
