FEMD, NIEE TO PARTNER ON TECHNICAL EXCHANGE.

The FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), is to partner with the Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers, (NIEE), Abuja Chapter, on technical exchange, community outreach, and advocacy as well as capacity building initiatives.
The Acting Director General of FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed made the disclosure when he hosted the executive members of NIEE in Abuja.
Engr. Abdulrahman stated that FEMD was willing to key into programmes aimed at mitigating the impact of flooding in the FCT, tackling building collapse, and developing the capacity of its workforce.
” We are interested in your tree planting programme, so that we can plant some trees in FEMD’s name.” He said.
Earlier, the chairman of NIEE, Engr. Uche Patrick- Obikile said that environmental engineers and emergency responders share a common mission to build resilient communities and minimize vulnerability to environmental hazards.
” Together we can explore strategies to mitigate urban flooding, promote climate change adaptation, and strengthen risk management infrastructure across the FCT”. She said.
Similarly, the Acting DG also received in his office members of a Non-governmental Organization, Mai Jagora Peace and Development Initiative, led by its Executive Director, Muntasir Jibrin Mohammed.
