Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda in FCT, dismissing distractions from critics and lauding progress on key infrastructure.

The Minister made the reaffirmation, while speaking to journalists after inspection of the second section of N16 (Shehu Shagari Way), connecting Ring Road II to Ring Road III,

He expressed satisfaction and admiration for the CBC Global construction company -the contractor handling the project, saying it has demonstrated confidence in the government and also  dedication to duty despite funding challenges.

“It’s truly amazing. When I visited this place in November 2024, piling work was underway. Today, the quality and pace of work are commendable. The contractor has promised completion of the Gwarinpa Interchange within three months, and we will ensure they are adequately funded to deliver,” he remarked.

The Minister attributed the contractors’ confidence to the trust reposed in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, explaining that “the interchange will decongest traffic and improve connectivity to Gwarinpa Estate. Abuja residents will reap the benefits,” he added.

Addressing recent rumors of his alleged arrest in France, Wike brushed off the claims  saying: “On the day they claimed I was arrested, I was inspecting Kubwa-Bwari Road projects. Critics thrive on propaganda, but focus is non-negotiable.”

The Minister recalled similar falsehoods in the past, including claims about his health, and urged the public to disregard such distractions. “When your boss (President Tinubu) is satisfied and you’re delivering on your mandate, no lie can derail you. Stay focused,” he stated

Wike envisioned: “Our goal is to position Abuja among the world’s elite cities. Contractors’ confidence in this administration is a testament to our credibility. The Renewed Hope Agenda is on course.”

Reacting to the defection of 16 Rivers State lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the minister said: “Everyone has the right to choose. The Constitution permits defection when a party is factionalized. While 16 have left, 10 remain, and we’ll continue working together.”

He, however, urged the PDP to put its house in order, or lose out, stating: “For now, we’ll strengthen the remaining members as a viable opposition.”
