Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said that provision of infrastructure was a necessity for economic development of any nation, including Nigeria.

The Minister stated this, Thursday, during the inspection tour of rural projects in Gwagealada, Gwagealada Area Council.

This is as he expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the construction of the Gwagwalada Market and the Paikon-Kore roads.

He said: “Infrastructure is basic to turn around any economy in any part of the World. If they don’t have basic infrastructure, too bad. And that is part of the problems we have had in Abuja. That is why we are trying to make sure that we create more infrastructure to open up, not just the city, but also the rural areas, so that the economy will thrive, so that is what I am saying”.

Recalling that things were really bad in the nation’s capital, the Minister explained that, that was why President Tinubu envisioned his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ to rekindle people’s hope and turn things around by positively impacting their lives in all parts of FCT.

According to him, there was excitement among the residents in all the places he visited, because the people could see and feel results of the President’s good governance within their communities.

The Minister, however, stated that while the December deadline for competition of the projects was not changed, installation of street lights on the roads would be done by January, because it was not part of the original contract.
