Minister Urges Corps Members To Provide Mentorship And Spearhead Youths Development

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has urged the Corps Members deployed to the Federal Capital Territory to provide mentorship and spearhead development-oriented programmes to FCT Youths.
Accordingly , this will compliment the efforts of the FCT Administration at all levels in the Territory.
Speaking at the swearing-in-ceremony of the 2023 Batch “C” Stream II, in Kubwa -Abuja, Dr. Mahmoud, represented by the Secretary, Social Development Secretariat & Chairman, FCT NYSC Governing Board, Ibrahim Aminu said, “Let me remind you of the significance of the Oath of allegiance that you had earlier deposed to, it is a solemn pledge to give your all in the service of our dear Country, Nigeria. And it is expected that through your comportment and activities, you will provide mentorship to our youths and spearhead development-oriented programmes to compliment the efforts of the FCT Administration at all levels including the Area Councils”.
The Minister assured the Corps Members of their security as the relevant security agencies have been deployed to the camp to ensure the security of lives and property.
She charged them to be law abiding and be security conscious; adding that any suspicious moves should be reported to the camp authorities immediately.
Dr. Mahmoud added that the Corps Members must submit & apply themselves diligently to all camp activities, its regimented nature and discipline.
She commended the Director-General of the NYSC, Brig. Gen. Y.D. Ahmed as well as the FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, for the timely mobilization and deployment of critical resources for a seamless take off of the orientation programme in the FCT.
Earlier in her address, the FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, thanked the Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and the FCT Administration for the support the scheme has continued to enjoy thus, fielding a very successful orientation exercise.
Mrs. Shokpeka admonished the Corps Members to submit themselves to all the activities lined up for strict compliance.
