N5BN KANO MARKET INFERNO: MAHMOUD SYMPATHISES WITH VICTIMS, URGES SWIFT RELIEF

The Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic market inferno that recently occurred in Kano State, resulting in the loss of lives and destruction of goods worth over N5b and means of livelihood.

The Minister described the incident as heartbreaking and a painful setback to hardworking traders whose daily efforts sustain families and contribute significantly to the local economy.

She noted that the loss suffered by the victims goes beyond material possessions, touching the very foundation of their hopes and aspirations.

Mahmoud extended her heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to traders and business owners whose shops and goods were destroyed in the unfortunate incident.

She prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and for strength, comfort, and resilience for all those affected.

The Minister called on relevant authorities and emergency management agencies to intensify efforts aimed at preventing future occurrences through improved safety standards, fire prevention measures, and public awareness.

She also urged timely support and relief for victims to help them recover and rebuild their lives.

Mahmoud reaffirmed her solidarity with the government and people of Kano State at this difficult time, assuring them of her continued prayers and support as they work towards recovery and restoration.

It could be recalled that a fire destroyed over 1,000 businesses and caused an estimated N5 billion in damages, while seven people were initially reported missing in the Singer Kano market inferno.
