Nigeria’s women’s beach volleyball team has booked a spot at the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championship in Adelaide, Australia. The global event is scheduled to take place from November 14 to 23.
Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa secured Nigeria’s qualification after defeating Egypt 2-1 (21-14, 20-22, 15-9) in the third-place match at the just-concluded CAVB Continental Championship held in Morocco. The victory earned them the final African ticket to the World Championship.
The head coach of the team, Kayode Ajilore, praised the players for their performance, describing it as a show of class and brilliance. He said their success was a reward for the hard work and determination of the entire team.
“First, I want to give glory to God for crowning our little efforts with success,” Ajilore told the News Agency of Nigeria. “The players have shown the world that the African Games silver medal was not a fluke.”
The Beach Volleyball World Championship is the highest level of competition in the sport and is organised by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). This year’s edition in Adelaide will bring together the best men’s and women’s pairs from around the world to compete for the prestigious title and valuable ranking points.
Nigeria will be one of only a few African nations participating in the event, making their qualification a significant milestone for the development of the sport in the country.
