The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed profound satisfaction with and ratified its ward, Local Government Area, state, and zonal congresses across the country.

This ratification was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the party’s 107th meeting on Monday, March 23, 2026, in Abuja.

It stated that all the congresses were peaceful, transparent, and unusually orderly for Nigerian politics, attributing the success to the party’s grassroots machinery and declaring that the congresses represent a model of discipline.

“NEC commended party leaders, electoral committees, stakeholders, and members for their commitment, discipline, and adherence to due process, which ensured peaceful, transparent, and credible exercises nationwide,” the communiqué stated.

The party’s e-registration drive also got a nod as the NEC reaffirmed its “commitment to a comprehensive, credible, and technology-driven membership database,” urging all members to actively participate in the exercise.

The NEC affirmed the party’s zoning formula for national elective positions in accordance with the PDP’s “long-standing principles of equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and national balance,” declaring the arrangement “shall serve as the guiding framework for the forthcoming National Convention.”

NEC disclosed the commencement of the sale of nomination forms for the party’s forthcoming National Convention, advising all interested aspirants to comply with the approved guidelines and timelines as issued by the party.

This is as it reaffirmed the party’s readiness for the forthcoming National Convention of inclusiveness, unity, and renewal, directing all relevant organs and committees to ensure “seamless coordination for a successful, credible, and transparent exercise.”

NEC also reiterated the supremacy of the party and called on all members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the collective interest of the PDP, assuring Nigerians of PDP’s readiness to provide purposeful leadership and national direction.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, who spoke during the meeting, called for genuine reconciliation and principled politics ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national convention scheduled for March 29–30, 2026.

He, however, cautioned against insincerity, warning that those who refuse to commit to the party’s progress should not expect acceptance after the convention.

The Minister condemned politicians who exploit the PDP for personal gain, declaring: “I don’t like people who use the party to secure tickets and then abandon it.” He urged members to demonstrate genuine loyalty, irrespective of electoral fortunes.

Wike dismissed the notion that financial muscle guarantees electoral victory, citing his own experience as a governor without federal backing, and urged candidates to prioritize grassroots connection over monetary inducements.

He frowned at leaders who deceive constituents with temporary gifts during elections, only to neglect them afterward. “Politics is not about sewing machines and motorcycles; it’s about sustained service,” he remarked.
