President Bola Tinubu has said that his administration will continue to invest in infrastructural development because it is the foundation for development.

The President made this known on Thursday, 19th June, 2025, during the official inauguration of the new collector road CN2, also known as Zakari Kyari Street, linking Arterial Road N11 (Ahmadu Bello Way) in Mabushi to  Katampe,   and other roads within the district.

The President, who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, stated that his administration will continue to invest in the infrastructural development of the country for the benefit of the citizens.

President Tinubu said: “Our administration will continue to invest in critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges, housing, transportation, education, and healthcare. We believe that infrastructure development is not an expenditure, but a good investment for the people.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure as a long-term investment for national growth, and not merely an expenditure.

He said that the commissioning of the roads was a clear reflection of his administration’s commitment to national development and improved quality of life for citizens.

President Tinubu stressed that infrastructure like roads supports growth, access, and prosperity, adding that the newly completed road significantly reduces travel time for residents and reflects the administration’s dedication to urban development.

The President commended the FCT Minister, Barrister. Nyesom Wike, for prioritising infrastructural development and ensuring that budgetary provisions are translated into tangible projects.

“We are impressed with your efforts and proud of the work you’re doing. You have proven that you know how to invest government resources wisely and leave no stone unturned,” President Tinubu said.

He assured that his administration will continue to invest in critical infrastructure such as roads, housing, transport, and education as the foundation for national development, adding that his government will not relent until every citizen feels the impact of good governance.

While dedicating the road to youths, workers, families, and residents, particularly those who live around the area, the President urged them to protect and preserve the road, even as he praised their cooperation and patience during the construction of the project.

“This is your road, residents of Mabushi and Katampe, use, protect, and preserve it. We hope it will significantly improve your daily lives.” He added.

Finally, he described the project as a symbol of unity and progress, while calling for continued national purpose and unity to build a greater Nigeria.

In his remarks, FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike expressed gratitude to the President for his continued support and to the residents of the FCT for their cooperation.

He recalled that the CN2 road project is the fourth handled by CGC to be commissioned within the week, noting that it is a testament to the administration’s momentum in delivering results.

“This road links to other strategic routes and was completed within nine months by CGC Nigeria Limited,” the Minister disclosed.

He emphasized the importance of working with those who have the capacity and can deliver.

“We give jobs to those who have the capacity and they have delivered.”

The Minister also stated the importance of paying ground rents, noting that these funds have been instrumental in enabling the FCT Administration to carry out vital infrastructural projects, and urged residents to pay up their ground rents.

“If we rely solely on what the Federal Government gives us, we cannot provide the needed infrastructure. We need everyone to pay their ground rents and taxes so that we can carry out more development projects for the benefit of our people.” Barr Wike stated.

The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Dauda explained that the CN2 road project was awarded in September, but flagged off in October 2024.

He explained that the road is located in Phase II of the city, within the Mabushi/Katampe District.

According to him, the road is equipped with underground water drainage, water supply infrastructure, and solar-powered street lighting.

Managing Director of CGC Nigeria Limited, Mr. Zhang Yi, described the project as a successful example of what can be achieved through strategic partnership and shared vision.

“This project is a significant contribution to economic growth, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel stress for residents,” he said.

In her vote of thanks, the FCT Head of Civil Service, Dr. Grace Adayilo, extended appreciation to the President, Minister, members of the National Assembly, FCTA staff, and every other stakeholder who contributed to the realization of the project.

According to the Head of Service, “The President’s doggedness and visionary leadership have been instrumental in driving infrastructural transformation in the FCT”.

She urged residents to preserve the road and other public infrastructure, noting that the benefits are ultimately for their comfort and development.

In a related development, the Minister inspected construction of the Judges Quarters and N5 road, which runs from Life Camp District through Karimo up to Deidei.
