Rice Producers Association Seeks Partnership with FCTA

The Rice Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (RIPPMAN) will collaborate with the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration to boost rice production in the Territory.
The National President of the Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Saleh, gave this assurance when the executive members of the Association paid a visit to the Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Lawan Kolo Geidam.
The National President highlighted the immense potential that FCT possess in rice production given the availability of abundant water bodies.
He emphasized the Association’s plans to offer up to a 50% subsidy to rice farmers in the form of inputs.
Saleh said farmers would be granted access to the Association’s modern rice processing facilities, all as incentives to enhance production.
Acknowledging the vital roles played by women and youth in the agricultural sector, Saleh underscored the Association’s commitment to supporting women farmers and ensuring their active engagement in rice production initiatives.
To safeguard farmers against risks, he stated his Association intends to collaborate with the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) to provide insurance cover for the farmers’ investments.
Responding, the Secretary praised RIPPAN for its dedication to bolstering the food production system in the FCT; describing the visit as a proactive approach, considering the critical need for private sector involvement, in commenting the Administration’s efforts to enhance food and nutrition security.
Geidam expressed optimism about the potential impact of the collaboration; stating, “this is exactly what the Renewed Hope Agenda envisions; providing an enabling environment for well-meaning Nigerians to operate”.
