The FCT Emergency Management Department FEMD has initiated the removal of six blocks of two-storey buildings at Angel Martin Estate, Pyakasa Airport Road, Abuja.

This is because the buildings which are under construction failed the integrity test.

The attention of FEMD was drawn to the Estate following the collapse of the retaining wall on the security post in the estate.

According to the Ag, Director General of FEMD Engr Abdulrahman Mohammed, retaining wall collapsed yesterday evening injuring the security guard on duty. Abdulrahman stated that the buildings constructed on a hill if not removed may collapse and affect other buildings in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, Engr. Abdulrahman has notified the Department of Development Control to immediately commence the removal of the structures.

The FEMD Boss appealed to developers to strictly follow the building codes to reduce incidents of building collapse.

He urged residents to always use the 112 emergency toll free number in the event of a disaster.
