In a significant move to address longstanding employment uncertainties, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointments for 1,659 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The confirmation follows a rigorous examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026, which saw 2,281 candidates participate out of the 2,512 invited.
Emeka Ezeh, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, disclosed that some of the confirmed workers were originally employed in 2016 and 2019, while others joined shortly before Barrister Nyesom Wike assumed office in August 2023.
“The Minister’s approval underscores the administration’s commitment to resolving legacy issues and ensuring fairness in the civil service,” Ezeh stated, as relayed through a press release issued on 8th March, 2026, by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and social media, Lere Olayinka.
In addition to the confirmations, the statement reveals that the Commission has finalized plans to conduct promotions for 2025 and 2026, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to “Renew the Hope” of FCTA workers.
It urges the affected candidates to check their status on the Commission’s official website: www.fctcsc.abj.gov.ng.
This development marks a critical step in stabilizing the FCTA workforce and reinforcing transparency under Wike’s leadership, the statement declares.
