Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to delivering on all promises made to Nigerians, particularly residents of the FCT.
He gave the assurance during inauguration of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) in Wassa, revealing that the roads ease the notorious traffic gridlock that bedevil the area.
“Every promise by this administration will be kept. When we commissioned the Apo-Wassa Junction stretch earlier, we promised to dualize this road. Today, by God’s grace and Mr. President’s support, we’re fulfilling that pledge,” he said
The Minister announced that there is progress on another promise of relocating Apo traders to a new site, revealing that the FCT Administration had received the cost for the provision of infrastructure at the proposed location.
Praising President Tinubu’s decisive and purposeful leadership, Wike hailed his policies, particularly the fuel subsidy removal, stating that it had enabled States and the FCT to execute projects without fiscal crises.
He emphasized that, unlike in the past, no Governor is now complaining of unpaid salaries or abandoned projects, adding that commercial banks now chase States for business, not the other way around.
Wike pointed out: “The projects you see in the FCT today are fruits of his leadership. He took tough decisions others avoided.”
The Minister thanked the Council Chairmen for their support, as well as ex-Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, hinting at a collaboration for youth empowerment in the FCT.
“Your presence inspires us. We’ll partner to create opportunities for our young people,” he said.
FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, while moving a vote of thanks, described the project as a bold step toward easing traffic flow, stimulating economic activities, and enhancing mobility for residents across the Territory.
She said the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu constantly reminds Nigerians that progress is built not only in policy but in the visible transformation of lives and communities.
Dr. Mahmoud also hailed the FCT Minister for his unwavering energy, foresight, and passion in ensuring that infrastructure development in the FCT is both meaningful and people-centered.
“Under your watch, the FCT has truly become a construction powerhouse and a beacon of national renewal,” she declared.
Providing the project overview earlier, Acting Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Dauda explained that the two main carriagewaye, runs from Ring Road I to Ring Road II.
He further disclosed that the OSEX is the primary broad bounding the Federal Capital City on the outer southern flank, adding that when fully developed, it would connect the City to Federal Highway A2, which is the Kaduna-Abuja-Lokoja road.
The FCDA boss also said that the project, which is being handled by CGC Nigeria Limited, is expected for completion within one year.
