Wike Hails FCTA Retirees Over Abuja’s Dev’t

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared that FCT Administration’s senior retirees and citizens deserve accolades for diligent and fruitful contributions to the development of Abuja.

Wike particularly noted that the retirees, had played various roles in different ways in different sectors to contribute to the building of Abuja as Nigeria’s dream capital city from the scratch to its present status.

He stated this on Thursday during an inaugural meeting with the retired Directors of the FCT Administration.

Represented by the Acting FCTA Permanent, Udom Samuel Atang, the Minister assured that the forum would provide the platform to tap from the retiree’s wealth of experience and knowledge.

The Minister added that he was pleased with the creation of a platform to unite the senior citizens, so that the FCTA could tap from them to maintain Abuja’s development.

His words: “Until yesterday the Minister was personally interested in hosting our senior citizens, to appreciate you for the very diligent and fruitful contributions you have made to the advancement of Abuja as the Federal Capital City of Nigeria. It is not easy to build a capital city from the scratch. “

“We have seen in many organisations, where the retired officers are invited as resource persons, because of their institutional knowledge and experience. …At each of the training programmes, you can be rest assured that in all the professional fields, which are represented here, we will always contact you. This is because nobody can do it better than those who have been here before,” Wike said.

He reiterated the commitment of the FCTA under the renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration towards the well-being of FCT staff, as it is being a new dawn for them.

Earlier, Director of RCSID, Dr. Ahmadu, noted that the senior retirees wealth of knowledge and experience is an invaluable asset to the FCT Administration, the serving staff were eager to tap in the development and progress of the Territory.

“Your unique perspectives will undoubtedly enhance our understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and together, we can work towards innovative solutions that will benefit the FCT and its residents”, she said.
