Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs. Remi Tinubu, for her visionary role in the remodeling of the Abuja City Gate.

Wike who made the remarks during an inspection tour of ongoing projects across the Federal Capital City on Thursday, March 26, 2026, described the redesign initiative as a transformative project that will redefine Abuja’s identity.

He revealed that the City Gate redesign, initiated by the First Lady, will feature a water fountain symbolizing Nigeria’s 36 States and the FCT, alongside recreational spaces for visitors.

The Minister emphasized that the remodeled City Gate, designed to boost tourism and civic pride, will include photo spots and cultural elements, aligning with the administration’s urban renewal agenda.

In his words: “The First Lady rightly observed that the former design didn’t reflect our capital’s status. We’re grateful for her foresight, and by God’s grace, this project will be ready for the administration’s third-anniversary celebrations.”

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on other key projects, including the Court of Appeal Complex in Dakibiyu, saying it is also nearing completion, and expected to be handed over by May 2026.

On the construction of 40-unit Judges’ Quarters in Gishiri, and the residences for the heads of Courts in Asokoro, the Minister expressed optimism on completing those projects on schedule.

Wike praised contractors, particularly Julius Berger Nig. PLC, for delivering quality work and adhering to timelines. “We’re satisfied with the progress. These projects will elevate Abuja’s status as a world-class capital,” he added.
