World record holder Tobi Amusan made a big statement on Sunday night by winning the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League.

Amusan ran an impressive 12.45 seconds to take first place. This time set a new meeting record and was her best performance of the season. She beat the previous Rabat record of 12.51 seconds, which was set by American hurdler Brianna McNeal in 2018.

Dutch athlete Nadine Visser came second with a time of 12.67 seconds. Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska finished third in 12.69 seconds.

After the race, a happy Amusan explained how she returned to top form. She said, “More hurdles practice, cos I have been doing more sprinting. It was after the first two Diamond League meetings, I knew I had to go back to doing more hurdle drills. Two weeks in, I can tell the difference.”

The 28-year-old Nigerian had a slow start to her 2025 season. She missed her planned opening race at the World Athletics Relays in China because Nigeria pulled out of the event. In her first two Diamond League races, in Xiamen and Keqiao, she finished fourth with times of 12.74 and 12.66 seconds.

There was no hurdles race in the Doha Diamond League, so Rabat gave Amusan a key chance to turn her season around and she did just that.
