EPL; Arsenal’s Unbeaten Run Continues With Draw At Stamford Bridge

By: Gyang Dakwo
Arsenal came from two goals down to salvage a draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with substitute Leandro Trossard netting the late equaliser.
Cole Palmer put Chelsea ahead from the penalty spot on 15 minutes, after William Saliba handled a goal-bound Mykhailo Mudryk header.
Arsenal were well off the pace in the first half and lucky to escape with a 1-0 deficit after Palmer – playing as a false nine – shot inches wide.
Mudryk doubled the lead within three minutes of the restart when his cross flew in past an out-of-position David Raya and Chelsea looked set to record the best result of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure as manager.
But a howler from their goalkeeper Robert Sanchez allowed Declan Rice to pull a goal back, before Trossard ghosted in at the back post to equalise on the volley and ensure the Gunners stay unbeaten in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal end the day second in the table, having fallen behind Manchester City on goal difference. Chelsea are up to ninth.
Earlier, Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table after a late 2-0 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby.
In a quiet first half Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a chance in the opening seconds but put his header straight at Alisson. Everton were then reduced to 10 men shortly before half-time, as Ashley Young received a second yellow card for a foul on Luis Diaz.
Everton were furious in the second half when Ibrahima Konate was fortunate to escape a second yellow card that would have evened things up.
With the pressure slowly building on Everton, they then conceded a penalty with 15 minutes to go after a handball by Michael Keane.
Mohamed Salah emphatically converted the spot kick to give Liverpool the lead. In injury time Salah scored again to end the argument, sweeping in a second after good work by Darwin Nunez.
Meanwhile, Erling Haaland struck his ninth Premier League goal of the season as champions Manchester City returned to winning ways with a battling 2-1 victory over Brighton at the Etihad.
The prolific Norway striker thumped home an incredible 45th goal in 44 league appearances on 19 minutes after Julian Alvarez had converted Jeremy Doku’s cutback for a merited City opener 12 minutes earlier.
After losing 2-1 at Wolves and 1-0 at Arsenal in the league before the international break, Pep Guardiola will be happy with his side in avoiding a third straight league loss amid another outstanding contribution from Phil Foden.
The home side returned to top spot in the Premier League table.
