Morocco’s U-20 national team has made history by winning their first-ever FIFA U-20 World Cup title. The Atlas Cubs defeated record champions Argentina 2-0 in the final played on Sunday in Chile.

Yassir Zabiri opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a well-taken free kick, and he struck again in the 29th minute with a fine volley to double Morocco’s lead. Argentina tried to fight back, but Morocco’s defense stood firm. Goalkeeper Ibrahim Gomis made a vital save in the 83rd minute to keep their two-goal advantage

The team, coached by Mohamed Ouahbi, stayed calm and organized throughout the match, and they controlled the game until the final whistle.

Morocco reached the final after defeating Spain, Brazil, South Korea, the United States, and France. This victory crowns a remarkable run and adds to what has been a year of great success for Moroccan football.

With this win, Morocco becomes only the second African country to lift the U-20 World Cup, after Ghana achieved the same in 2009. It is also the first time a North African nation has won the U-20 title, and the country’s first-ever World Cup trophy at any age-group level.
