The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Jamaica 5-4 on penalties to win the 2025 Unity Cup on Saturday. The exciting final match ended in a 2-2 draw after regular time at the Brentford Community Stadium in London.

Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze scored for Nigeria in each half of the game, but Jamaica also found the net twice, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. In the end, Nigeria held their nerve and came out on top.

The 2025 Unity Cup took place from May 27 to May 31 and brought together four teams: Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament was a colourful celebration of cultural heritage and football, aimed at fostering unity and pride among African and Caribbean communities in London.

This year’s edition was special because it marked the return of the Unity Cup after a long break. The last time the tournament was held was in 2004. Its return highlights the importance of using sport to build cultural understanding and strengthen community ties.

Nigeria’s victory not only brought joy to their fans but also added to the spirit of togetherness that the tournament was designed to promote.
