147 Graduates Get Automatic Fadama CARES Support

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced that 147 graduates FCT-Leventis Agricultural Training Institute, Yaba will receive automatic Fadama CARES Agricultural support.  

Secretary, FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Lawan Kolo Geidam made this disclosure during the combined graduation ceremony of 2022-2023 trainees in Yaba, Abaji Area Council of the Territory.

The Secretary explained that the Fadama CARES support is in line with the FCT Administration’s policy aimed at stimulate youth involvement in agricultural activities for enhanced food production. 

Geidam expressed optimism in the future of agriculture in Nigeria; lauding the dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated by the young trainees throughout the course. 

His words: “Their passion for agriculture no doubt, will foster a profound sense of hope for the sector’s future.”

The Secretary commended the Leventis Foundation for their extraordinary contributions to the agricultural sector since the inception of the institute in 2008. 

“Their efforts have resulted in the successful training of thousands of youths in Good Agricultural Practices, thereby helping to set standards that are in tandem with global best practices,” he added.

Geidam acknowledged a significant trend in the Institute, which is creating a generational shift from older farmers to a younger, more technologically equipped generation.

The Secretary urged them to leverage their newly acquired skills responsibly and make positive contributions to the society. 

Speaking earlier, the Executive Director of the Institute, Dr. Hope Usieta, praised the FCT Administration’s support and reaffirmed the Leventis Foundation’s commitment to agricultural training in Nigeria. 

Usieta disclosed that the combined graduation for two years was necessitated by previous security concerns, which have now been resolved with the help of the FCT Administration.
