Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has called on the people of Gwagwalada Area Council to unite under a single political focus and secure a decisive victory for President Bola Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.

Wike made the appeal on Monday, 2 November, 2026, while speaking at a well-attended cross-party interactive session organized by the Rainbow Coalition for FCT stakeholders in Gwagwalada.

The Minister stressed that genuine governance centers on delivering tangible development and enhancing the happiness of the electorate.

He noted that God brings leadership at appointed times to alleviate the burdens of the people, asserting that the current administration is steadfastly committed to addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits across the Territory.

Wike cautioned residents against repeating the political choices of 2023, urging them to elect accessible, community-rooted representatives who understand the distinct challenges of Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, Bwari, Abaji, and AMAC.

He roundly criticized self-serving politicians who oppose cross-party collaboration due to a lack of capacity to unite their own communities, maintaining that inclusive governance remains the most effective path to lasting peace, stability, and progress in the FCT.

Highlighting ongoing key interventions, the Minister pointed to significant infrastructural expansions in rural and satellite areas, including the soon to be commissioned road leading to Zuba.

In response to requests presented by youth representatives, Wike assured the immediate provision of recreational and sports facilities, while also directing his team to coordinate dedicated interactive sessions and mobility support for university students in the area.

The Minister also commissioned the Gwagwalada Town Hall named after him, “Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike Civic Centre”.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Mohammed Kasim, expressed deep appreciation to the FCT Minister for his prompt approvals and extensive development drive.

Kasim listed numerous completed and ongoing interventions under the current administration, including modern primary healthcare centers, educational facilities, market extensions, and strategic road networks, assuring the Minister of the Council’s unalloyed backing for the President and APC candidates.

Echoing similar sentiments, the FCT APC Chairman, Ishaku Tanko Yamawo, described the gathering as a landmark moment for local political harmony.

He praised the Minister for fostering unprecedented unity among previously divided political leaders through the Rainbow Coalition framework, adding that Gwagwalada now enjoys peaceful, crisis-free political engagement and remains fully mobilized to deliver massive votes for the APC.

Aguma of Gwagwalada, Mohammadu Magaji, in his remarks, praised the FCT Minister, saying: “As I said, what remain for us to do for you, is for all of us to pray for you for good health, long life, good protection, and guidancee.”

The royal father called on politicians to work for the good of the people irrespective of political affiliations, regretting that the Gwagwalada Area Council town hall had been abandoned for over 16 years because of political differences.

He also appealed for repairs on the Gwagwalada Specialist hospital and the establishement a general hospital for Gwagwalada.
