The Federal Capital Territory Administration has handed over two fully refurbished buses to the Abuja Children’s Home (ACH), Karu, in a move aimed at easing mobility challenges and improving the welfare of the children in its care.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, held on Monday, 5 September 2026, the Permanent Secretary, FCT Women Affairs, Hajia Asmau Mukhtar, Esq., said the gesture reflects the clear commitment of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, to the welfare of vulnerable children.

She described it as a practical expression of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.

Mukhtar urged the management of the home to ensure the vehicles are properly used and regularly maintained so that the children continue to benefit from them.

She also expressed appreciation to Honorable Minister of the FCT, HE Nyespm Wike for approving the refurbishment.

Administrator of the Abuja Children’s Home, Queency Patrick, received the buses with gratitude. She thanked the FCT Minister for his kind gesture and fatherly concern for the home.

Patrick described the refurbished vehicles as timely and life-changing, saying they had finally ended the long-standing mobility difficulties faced by the children.

She assured the Administration that the buses would be used judiciously and maintained solely for the benefit and welfare of the children.

Patrick also prayed for continued wisdom and strength for the minister in his service to the FCT and the nation.

The buses had been grounded for some time, making movement of the children difficult. Their refurbishment is expected to significantly improve mobility and overall welfare at the home.

The handover forms part of ongoing efforts by the FCT Administration to support institutions that care for vulnerable children in the territory.
