The Abuja Newspapers Distribution Association (ANDA), has appealed to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), to assist it to secure an office accommodation for the day-to-day running of the association’s activities.
The Association made the request when its Executive members, led by the President , Benji Obute, paid a courtesy visit to the Director, Information and communication, FCTA, Muhammad Hazat Sule, in his office, No .1 Kapital Street, Area 11 Garkj, Abuja.
Obute, while lamenting about the challenges faced by the Association, said Newspapers Vendors in Abuja, are having difficulty in accessing their office as the motorable entrance to the place has been blocked.
He said that they have been operating under trees without an office accommodation for some time now due to the ongoing road construction along Area 1 roundabout.
‘’We need a befitting space within the city center for easy distribution of newspapers to every part of the FCT and we promise to take care of it appropriately,’’ he said.
Obute, explained that ANDA was strategic in making sure that Newspapers are distributed to all the nooks and crannies of the FCT and called on media organizations to rise to the occasion of providing necessary assistance to the body as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
In his words ‘’ Without our role, the people will not have Newspapers to read neither will the FCT Minister or even the President have Newspapers to read, so, we play a vital role in disseminating information within the FCT’’.
The ANAD President while congratulating Sule, for his elevation to the rank of Director, Information & Communication, FCT, described him, as a dedicated and diligent professional who is capable of rebranding the image of the FCTA.
He, therefore, appealed to the FCT Minister through the Director of Information and Communication to use his good office and ensure the Association gets place to do their business.
Responding, the Director, Information and Communication, noted the request and said that FCTA is ever willing to partner with a worthy ally in the development of the city.
He pledged the support of the department to the Association’s activities.
