The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced construction of staff quarters for the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Bwari Area Council, FCT.
Speaking during flag-off ceremony of the project, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, stated that the school was a property of government hence it would do everything necessary to support it.
The Minister thanked President Bola Tinubu for his continued support and determination to ensure positive change in the development of nation’s capital.
He disclosed that the President has always granted his requests for the development of the FCT; stressing that, unlike before, the FCTA could interface with commercial banks to source funds for its numerous projects, because President Tinubu has pulled the Administration out of the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
Wike used a popular cliche in the local parlance, “monkey de jump from tree to tree because tree near tree” to describe the relationship with Mr. President, meaning all the projects he was carrying out were possible because Tinubu was behind him, providing all the necessary supports.
He also donated seven operational vehicles to the Law School, made up of three Coaster buses and four Hilux pick up vans.
While spontaneously pledging that his Administration would make provision in next year’s budget for female and male hostels for the Law School, Abuja campus, the Minister threw his weight behind calls for inclusion of the Nigerian Law School into Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the institution to benefit from the funds.
This is as Wike also made case for increment in budgetary provisions to the Nigerian Law School to enable it improve in service delivery.
Responding to representative of the contractor who said that if funds were available, his company would complete the job in six months, instead of eight months, Wike assured him or availability of funds; stating that none of his projects would be abandoned.
Earlier, Acting Exeutive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Dauda, explained that the need for provision of a suitable accommodation for the school would improve service delivery by the lecturers.
He also stated that the project would provide direct and indirect jobs to Nigerians, thereby improving their economies and welfare.
The Acting Exeutive Secretary stated that the staff quarters was composed of ten units of four bedroom flats, and would be completed on schedule.
