FCTA Welcomes Genuine Investors

The FCT Administration has expressed it readiness to welcome any genuine investor that is prepared to invest in any of its sectors, especially the sub-sector that has a gap like the public transportation. 

The FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola made this expression while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of AKATA Holdings, an International Consulting and Technology Company based in South Africa, Dr. Charles Sinkala that paid him a visit in his office. 

The Permanent Secretary said that the FCT Administration is ready to partner and do business with any genuine investor for mutual benefits and by extension to move the Territory to the next level.

Adesola recalled that recently the FCT Executive Committee mandated the Abuja Investment Company Limited, which is an investment arm of the FCT Administration to resuscitate the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company for sustainability and result oriented, and therefore, investors can take advantage of that window.

According to him, every modern city needs an effective transportation system, hence the reason for the EXCO instruction, because it is desirous to provide efficient transportation system across the Territory. 

Speaking earlier, Dr. Charles Sinkala, Chief Executive Officer of AKATA Holdings, an international consulting and technology company, said that his firm wishes to partner with the FCT Administration to bring to an end the transportation challenges in the Territory by bringing in 500 state-of-the-art large capacity buses to serve the transportation needs of the teeming residents of FCT.

Dr. Sinkala said, the proposed investment in mass transit buses has the capacity to decongest traffic gridlock in the nation’s capital city within a short period of time.

According to him, this investment will surely ensure sustainability, create employment opportunities as well as reduce high operational cost, because the company will also set up its spare parts factory in the Territory.

He disclosed that the firm which has its headquarters in South Africa has been in existence as far back as 1993 with offices in different parts of the World.

He also explained that the new transportation system which is being proposed will ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the management of FCT transportation system in line with the Abuja Transportation Master Plan.

He equally hinted that the company will ensure periodic training and retraining of local personnel, who will pilot the proposed scheme for optimum performance.
