FCTA Trains 3,000 Teachers On ICT

Desirous of improving the standard of education in the nation’s capital, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has trained 3,000 Basic Education Teachers in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) across the six Area Councils of the Territory.
The Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, disclosed this while addressing the Stakeholders and the Trainees during the closing ceremony of the exercise at Kigoma Street, Zone 7, Wuse I District, Abuja.
Wike reiterated the need for training and retraining of workforce; saying, this training programme demonstrates the FCTA’s commitment to investing in its educators with ultimate impact on the students, who are expected to make the nation great someday.
The Minister, who was represented at the occasion by the Mandate Secretary of Education, FCTA, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, revealed that the training has lasted for three months, between 29th July, 2024 and 31st October, 2024.
He said the training that was initiated by the office of the Minister, FCT, and organized by ‘Chalk Work Consults Limited’ in collaboration with the Education Resource Centre, is aimed to improve effective teaching and learning in Primary Schools through new teaching methodologies on Digitalization, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and other areas.
Speaking earlier, the Mandate Secretary of Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, who was also represented by at the occasion by the Director of Legal, Education Secretariat, Barr. Mary Amina Ahmadu, appreciated the initiation of the FCT Minister for training the teachers at the primary level.
Ahmadu appealed to the Minister to extend the training programme to the Junior and Senior Secondary School Teachers, saying that training and retraining is key to labour capacity building, especially in education sector.
In her welcome address, the Director, FCT Education Resource Centre (FCT-ERC), Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, appreciated the Minister of FCT for investing at the right time in the education sector.
She assured the FCT Administration that beneficiaries will not misuse the opportunity granted to them.
