FCTA Revenue Service Gets E-Portal

In a quest to bridge the gap between traditional and modern revenue collection system, the Federal Capital Territory Inland Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) has unveiled an Electronic Portal for ease and comfort of the tax payers.

Accordingly, the introduction is designed to ensure effective, efficient and transparent revenue collection in the FCT at the comfort zones of tax payers.

The Acting Executive Chairman, FCT-IRS, Haruna Abdullahi, made this known while addressing the Stakeholders at the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority (FCDA) Conference Hall in Abuja.

Abdullahi, said the establishment of the E-Portal is a mile stone achievement in FCT-IRS that will assist in ensuring effective, efficient and transparent revenue collection and processing for the FCT Administration.

The Chairman, who was represented at the occasion by the Director, Tax and Operations, Mrs. Chinwe Ndu, reiterated that, to ascertain proper revenue management in the FCT Administration, traditional way of revenue collection must be replaced with a modern pattern technique.

He said that the era of traditional system of revenue collection is full of discomfort, stressful, non transparent and complexity, unlike the modern system that is full of simplicity and transparency.

Abdullahi, emphasized that the E-Portal is a platform that will ensure accountability, effectiveness, efficiency, productive tax management and easy interaction between the tax Payers and the FCT Administration.

According to him, “the e-portal is our collection, receipting, assessment, and TCC issuance platform with the embedding of every service of revenue management. This platform is a symphony of evolution of processes, seamlessly harmonizing convenience, transparency, and accountability.”

Similarly, the Head of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), FCT-IRS, Mr. James Olukotun, who unveiled the E-Portal also said the essence of the introduction of Electronic Portal in the FCTA revenue collection is to break the gap between the traditional system of revenue collection to a modern system, which is more transparent, efficient and less complex.

Olukotun, while explaining the Portal, said the Portal has Revenue Management System (RMS), which he described as a system designed for use by the officers of FCT-IRS to among other things perform the functions of collection, registration, assessment, return filing reporting, receipt and Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) issuance.
