Inter Milan delivered a strong and ruthless performance to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 at the Allianz Arena in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

The Italian side took the lead through Lautaro Martinez, who scored a brilliant goal with the outside of his boot. The move started with a long ball that caught Bayern’s defence off guard. Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram combined well to set up the Argentine forward, who finished with style.

Bayern Munich had their chances, with Harry Kane hitting the post in the first half. The German champions pushed hard for an equaliser and finally got their reward in the 85th minute. Substitute Thomas Muller scored after connecting with a low cross from Konrad Laimer.

However, Inter responded quickly and retook the lead just three minutes later. Lautaro Martinez played in Carlos Augusto again, and his powerful cross was finished from close range by Davide Frattesi.

The defeat is Bayern’s first loss at home in the Champions League in four years. Inter now go into the second leg in Milan with a valuable lead and strong confidence as they aim to reach the semi-finals.
