Paris Saint-Germain have secured the 2024/25 Ligue 1 title with six matches remaining, following a 1-0 win over Angers on Saturday.

The victory was sealed by a second-half goal from Desire Doue, and it ensured that second-place Monaco can no longer catch up. Monaco sit 24 points behind with only seven games left.

The win marks a record-extending 13th Ligue 1 crown for PSG and their fourth consecutive league title. Under the leadership of Luis Enrique, the team has enjoyed a dominant season and remains unbeaten in the league. They are also still in contention for both the UEFA Champions League and the Coupe de France, keeping hopes alive for a treble.

Captain Marquinhos expressed his pride after the match, saying, “It is a nice feeling. It is the reward for the work we have put in throughout the season, for our consistency, and the team deserves it. Our ambition is to win everything.”

PSG have played 28 Ligue 1 matches so far, winning 23 and drawing 5. They are now just four games away from matching Nantes’ 1994/95 record of 32 games unbeaten from the start of a Ligue 1 season. If they finish the campaign without a loss, PSG would become the first French side to complete a full Ligue 1 season unbeaten.

They would also join an elite group of clubs from Europe’s top five leagues to achieve an unbeaten season, including Bayer Leverkusen (2024), Juventus (2012), Arsenal (2004), AC Milan (1992), Perugia (1979), and Preston North End (1889).

Luis Enrique, who led PSG to a domestic treble in his debut season last term—winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions—has the chance to repeat the achievement. PSG will face Reims in the Coupe de France final on May 24. Before that, their focus turns to the UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with English side Aston Villa.
