Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has made it clear he wants to stay at the club, saying, “I want to win wearing this badge.” The young winger spoke to reporters on Monday, just a day before Arsenal’s important Champions League match against Real Madrid.
Saka has missed 13 of Arsenal’s 31 Premier League games this season. However, the team’s strong form during his absence means he cannot be blamed for any dip in their title challenge. Before his injury, the Gunners had won nine and drawn six of their 17 matches, earning an average of 1.94 points per game. Without him, they averaged 2.08 points per game.
Speaking about the injury and time off the pitch, Saka said, “Yeah, it was tough for me. It came at a bad moment, but I am just focused now on the positives, and I could not ask to come back at a better time of the season than now.”
Saka returned to action last week and played in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Fulham. After the match, he posted on social media to thank the fans for their warm support and the positive energy they gave him on his return.
Looking ahead to the Champions League quarter-final at the Emirates Stadium, Saka praised the fans and expressed his belief in the team. He said, “As players, we are ready, and we are up for it… I have no doubts the fans tomorrow will be up for it also, and they are going to help create the most beautiful night the Emirates has witnessed.”
Beating Real Madrid would be one of Arsenal’s biggest achievements at the Emirates, a stadium that opened in 2006. The club has not won a Premier League title since 2003.
With Saka back in the squad and fully focused, Arsenal fans will be hoping he can play a key role in helping the team reach the Champions League semi-finals.
