Jamaican sprint star Shericka Jackson has hinted that she will return to the 400m in 2024.

The two-time 200m world champion has just ended an amazing 2023 athletics season by winning the coveted sprint double at the Diamond League finals in Eugene.

During an Instagram Question and Answer session put on by her club MVP Track and Field Club, a fan asked if she would be competing in the 400m next season. “Of course,” confirmed the admin of the page. Jackson later reposted the chat.

The 29-year-old competed four times over 400m this year, winning three races and taking third place at April’s Miramar Invitational.

Jackson, who was unbeaten in the 200m in 2023, has yet to confirm her plans for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

After taking her second World Championship 400m bronze medal in 2019, following Olympic 400m bronze at Rio 2016, Jackson made a successful switch to shorter sprints following the onset of COVID-19.

At Tokyo 2020 she won 100m bronze but slowed up too quickly in her 200m heat and failed to make the semi-finals. Jackson was then part of Jamaica’s gold medal 4x100m relay team.

She has gone on to dominate the 200m with no one else coming closer to Florence Griffith-Joyner’s 35-year-old world record of 21.34.

Jackson’s 21.41 to retain her world title in Budapest in August was the second-fastest time in history. She also holds the third and fourth-best times over the half-lap distance.
